Most people know Wripple from one perspective. They're either experienced marketing talent looking for their next opportunity or marketing leaders searching for specialized expertise.

Greg Kerns has done both. More than once.

Over the course of his career, Greg has worked with Wripple as a freelancer, hired Wripple talent while leading in-house creative teams, returned to the platform as a freelancer after a corporate role, and today is back to building creative teams as a client. Few people have seen Wripple from as many perspectives, offering a view of how the platform creates value for both talent and the companies that hire them.

From Freelancer to In-House Creative Leader—and Back Again

Greg's relationship with Wripple began in the company's early days. He was as a freelancer working on a variety of marketing projects while establishing himself as a freelance creative.

When Greg joined Mohawk Industries as Creative Director, he quickly realized how valuable his experience with Wripple would become. He quickly identified a gap. The team had talented writers, but they weren't advertising copywriters. There also was no dedicated proofreader. As creative demands grew, he knew the organization needed specialized talent to support the work.

Instead of starting from scratch, he turned to Wripple, a platform he already trusted from his own experience as a freelancer.

Over time, he brought in experienced copywriters, proofreaders, and additional creative talent to build the team he envisioned. Some freelancers eventually became full-time employees, while others provided the flexibility to scale the team as workloads changed.

For Greg, it reinforced something he already knew as a freelancer: having access to the right talent at the right time changes everything.

His Advice: Build Your Bench Before You Need It

After Mohawk, Greg returned to Wripple as freelance talent, taking on a temporary assignment with Georgia-Pacific. What began as a short-term engagement soon became a permanent role, where he now helps build and lead creative teams.

One of Greg's first priorities was building a trusted bench of creative talent. His philosophy is simple:

"You have to make time even when you think you don't have time because when you really don't have time, it's going to be really difficult."

Rather than waiting until the next urgent project arrived, Greg focused on identifying trusted creative professionals ahead of time. In previous roles, he'd relied on personal spreadsheets to keep track of freelance contacts. With Wripple, he could build and maintain a dedicated talent pool instead, making it easier to   organize and engage a trusted bench of creative professionals.

More Than a Staffing Firm

Greg has worked with plenty of staffing firms over the course of his career. What keeps bringing him back to Wripple isn't simply access to creative talent—it's the combination of technology and people that understand deeply how marketing works.

Some days, he wants to log into the platform, browse talent, and build a bench on his own. Other times, he wants a trusted partner who understands creative work and can help identify the right person for a specialized need. With Wripple, he doesn't have to choose between self-service and hands-on support. He has both.

That balance is what sets Wripple apart for Greg. Rather than acting as a gatekeeper or overwhelming him with constant follow-up, the team works alongside him—providing guidance when it's helpful and stepping back when it isn't. It's why, no matter where his career has taken him, Wripple is his “go-to.”

Built For Both Sides of the Work

Greg's story illustrates something larger than one career journey. It demonstrates what happens when both sides have what they need. Freelancers gain access to meaningful opportunities with great brands. Marketing teams gain trusted experts who can step in quickly and make an impact. The result is more time creating exceptional marketing work.
